this is sick... |
Being the novice I was, when I was about 12 I "rescued" 2 bettas from a Pets Mart and put them both into separate, cheap, tiny little novelty tanks, and that's how they lived for about a year and a half until I bought my third one and put him into a 5 gallon tank. I instantly noticed the difference!
My 3rd Betta was flying all over the place, he was noticeably happier, responded faster (in a non-aggressive way) when I'd come near the tank, and he lived for a little more than 3 and a half years! My other two barely made it to 2 years. They were depressed, uninterested, slow to respond...everything you don't want your Betta to be. And once I moved them into larger 3 gallon tanks each, they perked up like none other!
Betta's need to be in 3-10 gallon tanks by themselves (5 or larger and you might be able to add compatible fish, though I wasn't willing to risk it). In the wild, they live in rice paddies which are thousands of gallons of swimming space and naturally aerated and filtered, and only live in "small puddles" for about 2 or 3 months (at most) out of the year during the dry season.
What's more, while Wild bettas may be able to take smaller conditions longer and survive better, the fancy bettas we see in the stores today are not nearly as durable or hardy and need more stimulation and space.

Best for all time |
even if you do buy a larger tank say 5 gallons of tank those tanks are only for breeding bettas' or shall i say SHOWING bettas.
the normal sizes they come with in the first place are meant to be with them but these are durable, able to fit 2? Male bettas in 1?
well i usually just take the slider out and wala a 1 betta per betta tank.
Be Kind?
betta's really arent suitable for large tanks because the more they swim around and move around, the more your betta will loose its healthy looking fins, { salt is good for this }.
only get bigger tanks if your either 1 gunna show them, 2 Possibly gunna breed them, orrrrr if you willing to get more for a good price like this, i would not stack them unless you put holes on the very top of the sides so they have air, they need fresh air like any other tropical fish 24/7.
Not a air such as air pumps but they like stale-ish water and even brackish water.
constantly cleaning their tanks is a good thing, when you do, empty these 1 time every week allll the water and put your betta in a temperary tank.
these tanks are perfect without the dividers! |

Too Small |

Too small for a temporary home. Not bad I guess if you wanted to put one in there while your changing your REAL tank. You can get a 5 gal for cheaper at some places. Please be kind! |

At the bare minimum betta's need a gallon but I recommend getting a standard 10 gallon and dividing it into thirds. It's beautiful to stare at AND you get healthy bettas. Don't be fooled. Get a larger tank and your betta well thank you. |

this is one very good product. |
Don't believe the Feed 2 times a day! I noticed my fish don't even eat every other day, i have fully trained my fish Indoors and Outdoors how to eat 2 times a week only, Maybe 3 times a week depending on how hot the weather gets. Anymore and i noticed the fish suddenly refusing to eat.
This is a perfect 1 male betta OR a 1 female betta tank without the deviders in them. Take the deviders out and store them elsewhere and keep the betta tanks nice and clean every 1 week regardless OR every 4-3 days of feeding. Betta's STRIVE on clean water. But regardless of time only clean the water AFTER you feed your fish, but when it comes down to a 55 Gallon Tank, no need to clean those, only maybe once every 3 months or so IF THERE ARE ONLY FEMALE BETTAS IN THEM. But if you have too many the water is gunna get dirty much more faster than you could think with the fish waste and female betta eggs that occassionaly drop while she becomes Ready will you need only clean that kind of tank every 3 months. Kepp some of the old water in there if you think its neccassary. |
